A Root Canal is a procedure which removes the infected or inflamed pulp tissue from the inside of your tooth. By doing this we can eliminate your pain, allowing you to chew normally again. Root Canals can be performed right here in our state of the art office in just one visit.
There are three layers to a tooth:
Outer Layer- Enamel | Inner Soft Layer- Dentin | Soft Tissue- Pulp
First, we remove the decay or infection which is the cause of the inflammation and pain in the tooth.
Next, the pulp chamber and root canals are accessed, then cleaned and shaped. The inside of the tooth root is then filled with a bio-compatible material called "gutta-percha," which replaces the infected pulp tissue and allows the tooth to naturally heal.
Last, a temporary filling material is placed in the tooth and a subsequent visit is scheduled for the permanent restoration.
